Our Customer of the Month for January 2012 is Marles who lives with her Mom, Alex. Marles, a 4 year old boxer mix, was nominated by her former foster parent, Morgan. According to Morgan, Marles had literally been seconds away from being euthanized because of a lesion on her ear that looked like ringworm (it wasn't). Another volunteer at the Humane Society ripped her collar out of the hands of the vet who was about to do it. And whew... another beautiful life saved! Here's a little look into Marles' new life according to Alex:

" I am 21 and I have two horses along with Marles. I have had Buggy for 8 years and just purchased Phoenix.  Buggy is the large red horse in the photos and Phoenix is the small one with a lot of white on his face.  As you can see from the photos, Marles was the perfect addition to my family due to the fact that she is incredibly bright, has tons of energy and absolutely adores going out with me to the barn.  She keeps me in sight around 98% of the time and the other 2% of the time she is off following her nose to some scent that she finds to be interesting, playing with the other barn dogs, or greeting the new people that are arriving at the barn.

She has such a great personality and is fitting into my human family very well.  My Mom works from home 3 days out of 5 and so she's been getting to spend alot of good bonding time with Marles.  Marles loves to sun herself and will bug my Mom to take her out so that she can sit in the sun.  Seeing as how my Mother loves to do this as well, they make a great team.  My Dad has missed having a dog in the house and absolutely adores that Marles will play with him.  We have 1 squeaker toy and 1 rope toy and Marles is slowly learning how to play with humans.  She is great at playing with other dogs. At the beginning my Mother was completety against Marles being on the furniture, but has relented to allowing Marles to be on the loveseat.  It was very comical.  The first day that Marles was home alone with my Mom she informed my mom that this was HER seat.  So as long as Marles' pink blanket is there, she is allowed to be on the loveseat. The other thing that my Mom absolutely adores is that Marles is great on leash and so when my Mom gets a little stir crazy and wants some exercise during her work at home days, she will head out on a walk with Marles. She gets so much entertainment out of Marles wanting to smell all the different smells."

We think Marles is simply precious - especially in her darling sunbathing position ... not to mention with her pink blankie!
